The Physical Sciences and Technology journal, published by the Faculty of Physics and Technology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has demonstrated a notable increase in international scientific recognition. In 2024, the journal’s CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database rose to 24 %, reflecting a significant improvement in both the citation level and the quality of published research.

Founded in 2014, the journal publishes original research articles in fundamental and applied physics, nanotechnology, astrophysics, nuclear and thermal physics, and plasma technologies. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. The journal adheres to international academic ethics, provides open access, and is indexed in Scopus, DOAJ, eLibrary, and RSCI, earning strong trust from the global academic community.

The achievement of the 24th percentile in Scopus has been made possible thanks to the systematic work of the editorial board, a rigorous selection of publications, and the active international engagement of authors and reviewers. According to SCImago, the journal maintains a stable position in the fourth quartile (Q4) for physics and is among the most dynamically developing scientific journals in Kazakhstan.

The Physical Sciences and Technology journal also contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • Goal 4: Quality Education — ensures open access to up-to-date scientific findings and promotes a scientific culture among students, graduate students, and faculty.

  • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — supports the publication of cutting-edge research in high-tech fields, contributing to the country’s innovative development.

The journal’s growing metrics reflect KazNU’s strategic commitment to advancing research infrastructure, fostering international cooperation, and promoting national science on the global stage. Physical Sciences and Technology continues to enhance the university’s reputation as a leading research hub in Central Asia.
