New Methods of Teaching and Assessing the Korean Language Discussed at KazNU

On September 24, 2025, a special event was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Department of Far Eastern Studies. The event was attended by faculty members Abagan A. B. and Khamitova N. E., as well as students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Honored guests included representatives of the National Institute of the Korean Language, along with professors from Sangmyung and Honam universities.

The main goal of the event was to enhance the professional competence of Korean language specialists. Participants discussed mastering the orthographic norms of the Korean language, improving methods of teaching and assessing speaking skills, and exploring practical aspects of integrating modern EduTech technologies into the educational process.

The program featured a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Mr. Myrzakhan Sharipbayuly Egamberdiyev, and a special lecture on Korean language standards, teaching and assessment methodologies, as well as the application of digital technologies in practical teaching. Approximately 30 undergraduate students took part in the lecture. The final stage of the event concluded with a discussion involving department heads and senior faculty members.

Among the invited guests were researchers Lee Borami and Lee Giyeon from the National Institute of the Korean Language, Professor Lee Seunyeong from Sangmyung University, and Professor Kang Hyunju from Honam University.

The event served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, strengthening international academic cooperation, and making a valuable contribution to the development of Korean linguistics and teaching methodologies in Kazakhstan.
