Scientific Seminar within the SDGs: Health, Ecosystem Protection, and Responsible Consumption

On October 2, 2025, the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics hosted a scientific seminar dedicated to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The seminar focused on the following key areas: SDG 3 — Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production (including issues of environmental pollution by various substances and their impact on ecosystems).
The seminar participants were first-year doctoral students, who for the first time presented their future dissertation projects to a wide audience. In their presentations, they highlighted the scientific novelty and relevance of their research, the goals and objectives set, the practical significance for human health, water resource protection, and reducing the negative impact of pollution on nature, as well as the role of academic supervisors who will guide them throughout their dissertation journey.
The presentations sparked lively discussions and drew interest from both faculty and students. It was noted that such events not only encourage the exchange of scientific ideas but also help young researchers understand the global context of their work.
The seminar became an important step in the academic life of the department and once again emphasized that research in molecular biology and genetics is directly linked to addressing pressing global challenges — from protecting human health to safeguarding the environment.
