The session was conducted in the telecommunications laboratory of the Department of Electronics and Astrophysics. During the lesson, students explored the architecture and principles of Next Generation Networks (NGN) — systems that integrate voice, video, and data services into a unified platform.

Particular attention was given to IP telephony as a core component of NGN. Students learned the fundamentals of SIP and RTP protocols, traffic routing, and VoIP gateway configuration. Under the instructor’s supervision, participants carried out practical exercises using real equipment: configuring IP-PBX systems, registering subscribers, monitoring network traffic, and evaluating voice quality.

The hands-on experience helped students understand the essence of digital convergence and the operation of modern communication systems.

This activity contributes to the development of engineering competence and innovative thinking, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 9 — “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, which aims to foster resilient infrastructure, support inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and promote innovation.
