Collaboration with Women in Tech: New Opportunities for Advancing Digital Education and Gender Equality. SDG 4 and SDG 5

17 october, 2025

A meeting was held with representatives of the international organization Women in Tech, focused on discussing cooperation in the fields of digital education, innovation, and expanding opportunities for women in science and technology.

The representatives presented the key areas of Women in Tech’s activities, including partnerships with leading universities, organization of motivational events for students, and implementation of educational initiatives aimed at developing digital competencies.
It was noted that this year a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with De Montfort University (United Kingdom), and work is underway to develop a joint educational program with the IT University and the International University of Information Technologies (IUIT).

The organization’s representatives emphasized that Women in Tech operates on a non-commercial, voluntary basis, without any financial requirements from universities, allowing it to focus on its social mission — supporting students, especially women, in their professional and personal development.

Joint Initiatives within the SDGs

The discussion on cooperation with Women in Tech fully aligns with the strategic priorities of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and contributes to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: through the development of students’ digital and research competencies and the creation of a modern academic environment;

  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality: through promoting women’s participation in STEM fields and creating opportunities for career growth and leadership development.
