Meeting on Quantum Technology Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. SDG 9 and SDG 17
On October 30, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a working meeting on the development of cooperation in the field of quantum technologies between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the project “Rosatom Quantum Technologies” — Anna Kocharova, Head of International Projects; Valeria Kushakova, Project Manager for the CIS region; Gleb Salakhov, Research Scientist of the Russian Quantum Center; and Kydyrali Serikbai, Project Manager of the Regional Center of the Rosatom State Corporation for Central Asia.
The Faculty of Physics and Technology was represented by the Vice Dean for Research and International Relations, who presented the faculty’s scientific priorities and discussed possible collaboration areas in quantum computing, sensing, and communications.
The Russian side presented a national project “Quantum Technologies”, covering key areas such as quantum computing, communications, and sensors. It was noted that Russia is among the global leaders developing prototypes of quantum computers across four physical platforms (superconductors, ions, atoms, photons) and actively expanding educational centers, research hubs, and international partnerships.
The Faculty of Physics and Technology expressed its strong interest in advancing cooperation with Russian research organizations, emphasizing the potential for joint initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals — SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
