Career guidance lecture “Study the East – Be Inspired!” held within the Framework of SDG 4 in Semey

On November 7, 2025, Yerzhan Abdiraiymuly Kerimbayev, Deputy Head for Academic and Educational Affairs of the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, delivered a career guidance lecture in the city of Semey. The event was organized within the framework of the department’s career guidance plan and attracted significant interest.

The lecture titled “Study the East – Be Inspired!” was held at Alikhan Bokeikhanov University. The aim of the event was to increase young people’s interest in Oriental Studies and to provide comprehensive information about opportunities and prospects in higher education. The lecture was conducted within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal SDG 4 — Quality Education.

During the lecture, the history of the formation of Oriental Studies, current trends, and future prospects of the field, as well as the stages of development of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, were presented in detail. In addition, comprehensive information was provided on the educational programs of the Department of Chinese Studies, academic opportunities, and the three-cycle higher education system (Bachelor’s – Master’s – PhD). Yerzhan Abdiraiymuly also spoke in detail about study programs, scholarships, and academic exchange opportunities in the People’s Republic of China.

Students from higher education institutions in Semey and representatives of various reading clubs took part in the event. The total number of participants was approximately 60. The audience showed strong interest, and an active discussion followed.

At the end of the lecture, participants asked numerous questions, to which Yerzhan Abdiraiymuly provided detailed and informative answers. The meeting made a significant contribution to youth career guidance, informed career choices, and the promotion of access to quality education.
