Preserving Traditions, Shaping the Future: 10 Years of the “Russian Language and Culture” Center
On November 10, 2025, the “Russian Language and Culture” Center of the Faculty of Philology at аl-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international round table discussion within the framework of “Russian World” Foundation – “International Forum ‘Interaction of Science and Society: Language, Innovation, Culture’” the international project .

The event was attended by: Sergey Alexandrovich Ulitin, Chief Project Manager of the Department of Russian Centers and Events of the “Russian World” Foundation; Maria Sergeyevna Simakova, Vice-Consul and Head of the Russian House in Almaty; representatives of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi KazNU, the M. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, Renaissance University of Education (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), and M.Kh.Dulati Taraz University.

The round table discussion was opened by Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bayan Umirbekovna Zholdasbekova. She emphasized that over the past ten years the Center has become a significant intellectual and cultural space bringing together scholars, educators, students, and all those interested in the Russian language and its role in the global world.

In the context of rapid technological transformation and expanding international communications, the Center plays an important role in disseminating scientific knowledge while preserving humanitarian values, strengthening cultural ties, developing language competencies, and maintaining dialogue between countries and cultures. Such initiatives help create a space of mutual understanding and cooperation.
In a video message from Dushanbe, the Head of the Center, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Saule Bayazovna Begaliyeva, noted that she was representing the Center at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Russian Language and Literature in Central Asian Countries”. Students of the “Russian as a Foreign Language” program from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan prepared a video about the Center and delivered presentations on RFL topics, demonstrating their language proficiency and academic speaking skills. Project participants presented the activities carried out within the framework of the project, as well as the equipment, materials, and books received.
The participants then engaged in an open discussion on key issues of sustainable development, and the integration of language, innovation, and culture into the dialogue between science and society.
The meeting was held in a warm and sincere atmosphere, highlighting the importance of strengthening international cooperation and expanding academic networks aimed at sharing experiences, supporting research initiatives, and promoting intercultural dialogue. As a result of the round table, new directions for joint projects were outlined, focusing on integrating scientific research, educational practices, and innovative solutions into the socio-cultural environment. The organizers expressed confidence that such meetings will continue to serve as an important platform for sustainable interaction between science and society.
