The purpose of the course "The Role of the Great Silk Road" is to study the historical, cultural, and economic significance of the Silk Road as an important factor in the development of international relations, cultural exchange, and trade, as well as its influence on the formation of cultural, economic, and environmental aspects in the regions through which it passed.

Upon completion of the course "The Role of the Great Silk Road," students will acquire the following competencies:

  1. Historical and Cultural Competence
    • Ability to analyze historical events and the cultural impact of the Silk Road on the countries it passed through.
    • Knowledge of the key stages of development and changes in the Silk Road route and its significance in the context of world history.
  2. Geographical and Cartographic Literacy
    • Skill in using maps and other geographical data to analyze the routes and geopolitical locations of the countries involved in trade on the Silk Road.
    • Ability to identify key geographical features of the route and their impact on trade and cultural connections.
  3. Intercultural and Communication Competence
    • Understanding of the Silk Road’s role as a platform for intercultural exchange and the formation of ethnocultural interactions.
    • Skill in interacting with representatives of other cultures, considering the historical and cultural characteristics developed through the Silk Road.
  4. Analytical Competence
    • Ability to critically analyze historical sources and scientific studies on the Silk Road to identify its influence on modern society and economy.
    • Skill in analyzing the long-term economic and cultural impact of the Silk Road on contemporary Eurasian countries.
  5. Research Competence
    • Ability to conduct independent research on the impact of the Silk Road, based on historical data, archival materials, and modern research.
    • Ability to apply an interdisciplinary approach to study the economic, cultural, and social aspects of the Silk Road.
  6. Competence in Sustainable Development and Tourism
    • Knowledge of modern methods for preserving the cultural heritage of the Silk Road and its sustainable use in tourism.
    • Understanding the importance of the route for the development of ecotourism and cultural tourism in various countries and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
