The Center's activities are also supported by DAAD, the Goethe Institute, the Consulate General of Germany in Almaty, etc.
Currently, cooperation is expanding with institutions of German-speaking countries, primarily with Austria and Switzerland. Within the framework of project activities, the CGI carries out fruitful cooperation with universities and research centers in Japan, India, China, as well as CIS countries exploring international and regional issues of EU/Germany –Central Asia–Eurasia cooperation.
The main mission of the Center is to promote the development of research and educational process in cooperation with foreign universities and scientific institutes; also to promote and adapt the EU Educational Strategy (Bologna System) to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
CGI cooperates fruitfully with DAAD. The German Academic Exchange Service annually provides scholarship programs for master's and doctoral studies in Germany; grants for language schools, research, etc.
The Center acts as a platform for the implementation of academic mobility programs, in particular, research practice of both Kazakhstani and foreign students and research interns is carried out on its basis. To do this, there are agreements with the universities of Hamburg, Bremen, Heidelberg, Bundeswehr (Hamburg), Darmstadt, Humboldt, with the Free University of Berlin; the European Academy of Berlin, the Institute of Regional and Global Studies/ GIGA, etc.
Master's and doctoral dissertations are being prepared in these areas, monographs, scientific articles, collections of conference materials are being published. CGI users are students, undergraduates, doctoral students, teachers. The center is open to everyone.

Director of the Center for German Studies.A well-known scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, specialist in international relations and political sciences.
Author of more than 200 scientific papers published in Kazakhstan and abroad (monographs, articles, textbooks). Among them, a significant place is occupied by studies of regional models of international integration: current and potential (from the EU to the CAC). Together with Gubaidullin's students, M.Sh. continues to develop new promising areas related to European and Eurasian issues.
The research experience gained in the scientific centers of Russia, Germany, Poland, Japan, India, etc., is actively implemented in pedagogical and scientific activities.
