About us
The main tasks of the Department include:
- defining the strategic priorities for the development of the University's educational activities and ensuring the integration of education, science, and innovation;
- ensuring planning, organization, coordination, and monitoring of the educational process;
- coordinating the activities of faculties and structural units in developing and implementing the University's academic policies;
- forming and regularly updating the portfolio of educational programs of the University;
- ensuring stakeholders' participation in the design and evaluation of educational programs;
- participating in the formation and development of human resources;
- developing key approaches to teaching and instructional support for disciplines;
- coordinating the process of forming the student body and organizing career guidance work;
- coordinating the faculties' activities in organizing professional internships and employment of graduates;
- ensuring the organization of work of collegial bodies, commissions, and faculty author teams on academic activities issues. Representing the University's position in collegial bodies at the republican level, as well as in interaction with universities and other organizations;
- defining the basic requirements for the organization and material-technical support of the educational process;
- organizing and implementing academic and digital innovations in the educational process to enhance its efficiency;
- continuous monitoring of the student body movement based on document flow and data analytics;
- organizing work on attracting, admitting, and orienting students in the educational process;
- organizing advisory activities on educational and methodological issues at the level of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council.
The Department operates in accordance with the legislative and regulatory acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Charter of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the main principles of the Bologna reforms, and the development of the main advantages of the credit-based education system.
Department consists of 6 Offices:
1. Admissions Office:
- Coordination and control of career guidance work at the university faculties.
- Attracting students to the educational process, organizing admission and orientation activities.
- Organization and conduct of advisory activities on the selection of university educational programs for applicants.
- Development of indicative admission plans jointly with faculties (schools) and acceptance of documents by applicants.
- Organization of admission of applicants to study under higher education programs (Bachelor's) and postgraduate education programs (Master's, Doctoral) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
2. Student Office:
- Preparation of orders regarding the composition of students (dismissal, transfers, reinstatement, academic leave, international assignments).
- Preparation and issuance of archival certificates, duplicates of diplomas, and their supplements to replace lost ones.
- Preparation and submission of documents for transferring students from contract-based to vacant educational grants in MNVO RK.
- Processing of requests from service recipients in the systems of the "Automation of public services of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan".
- Registration of orders regarding the composition of students.
- Preparation and submission of orders for storage in the university archive.
3. Educational Program Design Office:
- Planning, coordination, and control of work related to organizational, analytical, and informational support of the educational and methodological activities of the University.
- Monitoring the design of educational programs by academic committees in the directions of personnel training.
- Ensuring the work of the University's Academic Council.
4. Educational Process Organization Office:
- Control over the timely preparation and approval of the volume of educational work of the faculties, distribution and fulfillment of pedagogical assignments by faculty members, including effective use of the hourly fund.
- Formation of the schedule of the educational process and individual plans for specialties' training and control over their timely implementation.
- Accounting and distribution of the academy's classroom fund to ensure the educational process, control over the progress of the class schedule, midterm assessments, and exams.
- Conducting monitoring and analysis of the progress and results of midterm control of student performance and current certification.
5. Academic and Digital Innovations Office:
- Determination of priority directions for the development of the University's educational activities in the field of open and distance education.
- Organization and implementation of academic and digital innovations in the educational process to enhance its efficiency in accordance with the rules of organizing education using DOT in the University.
- Development of online and distance learning platforms of the University.
- Provision of consulting services, training services, and other services related to the implementation of academic and digital innovations in the educational process to external organizations on a non-reimbursable basis.
6. Professional Development and Career Office:
- Career counseling and assessment of career opportunities.
- Resume and cover letter writing assistance.
- Assistance in finding internships and job vacancies.
- Conducting seminars and trainings on various aspects of employment.
- Organizing job fairs and employer meetings.
- Providing access to information about upcoming events and employment opportunities.
