The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU is one of the leading scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan, occupying a leading position in the national rating of educational programs in the chemical profile. Currently, the faculty has more than 1,500 students in 21 specialties and three levels of training. All educational programs, accredited by the international agency ASIIN, are annually modernized taking into account the needs of the labor market, which allows us to train highly-demanded specialists for industry and science.

The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU is one of the leading scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan, occupying a leading position in the national rating of educational programs in the chemical profile.
Currently, the faculty has more than 1,500 students in 21 specialties and three levels of training. All educational programs, accredited by the international agency ASIIN, are annually modernized taking into account the needs of the labor market, which allows us to train highly-demanded specialists for industry and science.
The faculty functions according to the model of a scientific, educational and technological multidisciplinary cluster, which has six enlarged departments integrated with three research institutes, and has a material and technical base for conducting scientific research in various fields of chemistry and chemical technology.
First-year students are widely involved in the system of educational and research work under the guidance of experienced teachers and scientists of the faculty, including more than 50 doctors of sciences, 100 candidates of sciences and doctors of PhD. This allows motivated and hardworking students to reveal their potential, acquire deep knowledge, experience and the necessary competencies.

Bachelor's degree programs
Training of personnel capable of professionally performing activities in the fields of: scientific research; creation of new types of chemical products; innovative technologies; product quality control, standardization and certification of raw materials and products; secondary and vocational education. The bachelor will be able to solve problems in the following areas: modern theoretical and applied chemistry; chemical expertise; green chemistry; nanochemistry and nanomaterials; development and design of composite materials
"Chemical Technology of Organic Substances" with theoretical knowledge and professional competencies necessary to monitor and improve the processes of organic chemical and related for the production of target products, modern technologies. The implementation of the educational program is aimed at shaping the personality of a bachelor who is able to: - solve professional problems on the basis of generally accepted laws and the theory of fundamental sections of chemistry, as well as existing and proven technologies for the creation of organic substances and materials; - use various types of information and communication technologies in their professional activities; - work effectively in a team in order to find the best ways to solve the set professional tasks.
Qualitative and multilateral training of competitive specialists in the field of pharmaceutical production technology demanded on the labor market of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The educational program is aimed at shaping the personality of a specialist with critical thinking, able to improve professional competence for the development, design and implementation of new drug manufacturing technologies in pharmaceutical production.
To train bachelors for the fields of production and sale of chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and other related industries, industrial laboratories of analytical, environmental, sanitary and epidemiological, certification services. The program is aimed at the formation of a bachelor with: - fundamental knowledge in the field of natural and engineering sciences, - skills of analysis and evaluation of the main characteristics of technological processes for the production and processing of substances and materials; - competencies necessary for the control and maintenance of technological processes in the production of chemical and related industries; - interaction skills in a social, professional, industrial, commercial environment.
The purpose of the educational program is to qualitative training of specialists for the creation and development of functional materials of a new generation of nanoscale organization of the structure, taking into account the achievements of chemical and physical sciences.
The purpose of the educational program. Training specialists for the food industry with competencies to control and maintain technological processes of food production, analysis of the chemical composition of food products and raw materials, development of modern methods of processing, canning, storage and packaging of raw materials, semi-finished products and final products.

Master's degree educational programs
Training of highly qualified personnel with professional competencies sufficient for the development of new knowledge and effective solutions of research and applied problems in the field of chemical education, modern theoretical chemistry and chemical industry. Master could carry out professional activities in the following areas: - secondary, professional and higher education; - research in various fields of modern chemistry; - creation of new types of chemical products and materials, improvement of existing and development of new chemical processes based on the latest achievements in the field of chemistry and related disciplines in accordance with the needs of the market, industry and agriculture; - improvement and development of methods of quality control, standardization and certification of raw materials and chemical products.
The program is aimed at training scientific and pedagogical personnel with in-depth and fundamental knowledge in the production of products of chemical, metallurgical, agrochemical industries, the industry to manage the production processes of inorganic substances and materials, as well as capable of developing and implementing modern educational methods.
Training of highly qualified specialists in the field of chemical technology for the production of organic substances and materials, capable of independently conducting scientific research and evaluation of the results of research work in comparison with the best global results, possessing the basics of scientific analysis and forecasting of chemical processes of production and processing of organic substances, medicinal substances and materials, as well as methods of teaching disciplines in this area.
Preparation of masters with broad fundamental knowledge in the field of chemistry and pedagogy, proficient in modern educational technologies, as well as capable of managerial activities in the field of science and education.
Training of specialists for various fields of chemical engineering and industry, as well as secondary, professional and higher education, who have the competence to manage production processes, improve and develop methods, regulations and technologies for obtaining substances and materials.
Training of top requested staff of the new generation with in-depth special and fundamental knowledge in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining technologies. The program is focused on the formation of a professional specialist capable of: - interpreting and summarizing the current knowledge in the field of petrochemistry and refining; - independently carrying out scientific research in the field of petrochemistry; - interpreting the results of their own scientific research and report them to the scientific circle; - analyzing current information on the processes occurring in the modern processing of hydrocarbons and assessing their consequences; - developing and introducing new modern technologies for processing of raw hydrocarbons.
Training of masters with professional competencies for solving theoretical and applied problems in the field of creating energy-intensive materials and improving their technology, forming a professional personality capable of independently carrying out scientific research, applying simulation processes to plan and predict experiments in the field of combustion, detonation and explosion;
The aim of the educational program "7M07122 Nanomaterials and nanotechnology in chemistry" is high-quality training of personnel in the field of nanotechnology and nanoengineering, capable of interpreting and generalizing modern scientific knowledge in the field of designing new and improving existing materials and products of various functional purposes based on the nanotechnology processes.
The program is aimed at the formation of a professional personality of qualified personnel capable of: - interpret and summarize modern scientific knowledge in the field of designing new and improving existing products, of various functional purposes, based on the integrated application of nanomaterials, nanotechnology processes and nanotechnological equipment; - analyze the possibility of different methods for the synthesis of nanostructures with predetermined properties; - to put into practice modern ideas of the sciences on the properties of substances and materials when they are transferred to a nanoscale state; - to conduct independently research work on the direction of nanomaterials and nanotechnology.

The purpose of the educational program is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of chemistry with a complex of fundamental knowledge and skills in basic research methods of chemical processes, substances and materials capable of analyzing and solving modern problems of chemical science and industry.
To train research and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the field of chemical technology of inorganic substances for universities, research organizations and related fields, who are capable to: - develop new cost-effective technologies and schemes for the production and processing of inorganic substances and materials with desired properties; - develop and implement educational training courses in chemical technology in higher education organizations; - manage production processes at enterprises related to the production and processing of mineral raw materials. The program is aimed at training scientific and pedagogical personnel with in-depth and fundamental knowledge in the production of products of chemical, metallurgical, agrochemical industries, the industry to manage the production processes of inorganic substances and materials, as well as capable of developing and implementing modern educational methods.
Preparation of highly qualified PhD doctors who are able to competently assess the latest achievements in the field of chemical technology of organic substances, conduct independent research to create new knowledge and technologies; promote high-tech chemical technologies for the production of organic substances and materials with a wide range of functional properties into production.
Training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel (Doctors of Philosophy) in the field of chemical engineering for universities, research organizations and related fields, capable of: - systematization of scientific theories and concepts of the latest directions in chemical engineering with the aim of further application of this knowledge in the implementation of dissertation research; - carrying out independent planning and conducting the scientific research based on the selection of a relevant scientific task, as well as analysis and interpretation of the obtained data; - presenting the results of scientific research in a reasoned manner at scientific discussions and publications; - organization and management of research work to solve current problems in chemical engineering; - development of new cost-effective technologies and schemes for obtaining and processing substances and materials with specified properties; - development and implementation of educational training courses in the chemical engineering field in higher education organizations; - management of production services and enterprises for the production and processing of materials of the chemical industry.
The purpose of the educational program is to prepare highly qualified PhD doctors with systemic knowledge and practical skills and techniques of independent research; capable of critical analysis, evaluation and generation of new ideas in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining. The program is aimed at the formation of a professional personality of a specialist capable of: - to interpret the basic principles of an integrated modern approach to the use of oil and petroleum raw materials. - to systematize and interpret the problems and tasks of scientific research, including the selection of methodologies necessary for research for further use in the performance of the thesis. - to implement an integrated approach to self-sustained research based on modern innovative technologies in the field of petrochemistry and petrochemical synthesis. - to assess the validity of the methods of conducting experiments used in scientific research, to carry out a reasoned scientific discussion, using the evidence base obtained as a result of theoretical and experimental training with the involvement of literary and patent sources of well-known researchers in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining.
The purpose of the educational program Training of competitive personnel with sufficient competencies in the field of energy-intensive materials, capable of conducting scientific research taking into account technological standards, formulating production tasks for the production of energy-intensive materials and solving them through the technological cycle, as well as:- interpret the basic theoretical principles of energy-saturated transformations of energy-intensive materials and calculate the parameters of the state of explosion, combustion and detonation products; - systematize scientific theories about the physical nature of a shock wave, brisant, cumulative and high-explosive action of energy-intensive materials for the purpose of further application of this knowledge in the implementation of dissertation research; - to carry out independent scientific research on the varieties of explosives, gunpowder, solid rocket fuel and pyrotechnic compositions, and their use for equipping missiles, ammunition and pyrotechnic means; - to determine the significance of research into the technological processes of manufacturing explosives, gunpowder, rocket fuel and pyrotechnic compositions with a projection on the development of promising areas of the military-industrial complex, rocket engineering and the production of pyrotechnic products.
Training of highly qualified competitive scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the field of nanotechnology, capable of interpreting and applying scientific theories and concepts of the latest areas of nanotechnology to create safe nanomaterials with a given composition, structure, properties and implementation of their practical application, mastering advanced research methods, ready to make contribution to the development of nanotechnology and nanoscience by solving fundamental and applied problems that contribute to the development of the economy and the formation of modern society
