The national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 32 years old
In the life of independent Kazakhstan, there are memorable dates established to commemorate events of special historical significance. One of these is the Day of the national currency, the tenge. On November 18, 2025, an educational event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The decision to introduce our own Kazakh currency was a key moment in the history of our state and the transition to a new stage of economic development. Noting such an important event, we realize that the introduction of our national currency had a significant impact on the establishment and development of the young Kazakh statehood. The introduction of the tenge was one of the most important steps towards real independence, a new starting point in the history of the country.
Today, we rarely think about the origin of Kazakhstani money, about its history, and foreigners arriving in our country do not know anything about it at all. Introducing foreign students of the FDO to the history and introduction of the national currency corresponds to SDG 4: "Quality education". Education is one of the basic human rights that enhance human opportunities. It promotes intercultural dialogue and strengthens respect for cultural, religious and linguistic diversity, which are important factors in achieving social cohesion and justice. Education can accelerate the achievement of all Sustainable Development Goals and, therefore, should become an element of a strategy to achieve each of them.
Task 4.7: "Education in the field of sustainable development and global citizenship" involves providing all students with the knowledge necessary to contribute to the goals of the United Nations, including on sustainable development and a sustainable lifestyle, as well as awareness of the value of cultural diversity and the contribution of culture to sustainable development. Fostering respect for cultural diversity and developing the skills necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals are becoming key aspects in preparing future generations. All this allows not only to systematize, improve and deepen the knowledge of foreigners about Kazakhstan, but also to show the role and place of our state in the world community.
