The Double Degree Program with Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University is Successfully Ongoing
As part of the educational programme ‘7M07101 – Petrochemistry’, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is successfully implementing a joint double degree programme with Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 in France.
In the current academic year, KazNU master's students Bekzat Nurym, Sultan Ilyas, Aldiyar Amanzholov, Dana Erasainova and Aruzhan Sailau are studying in France, demonstrating a high level of professional training, scientific potential and the ability to adapt effectively to an international academic environment.
The double degree programme provides students with a unique opportunity to master the best educational practices of two leading universities, carry out laboratory and research work using modern equipment, and improve their professional and language skills.
The programme is taught in English and French, which promotes academic mobility and the development of a new generation of young professionals ready to take on global challenges.
The joint master's programme reflects KazNU's strategic course towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributes to the achievement of key areas of sustainable development:
• SDG 4 – Quality education: Provides students with access to modern knowledge, innovative teaching methods and international academic standards.
• SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure: Develops future specialists' competencies in petrochemical technologies and sustainable industrial development.

The cooperation between KazNU and the University of Lyon-1 strengthens scientific and educational ties between Kazakhstan and France and serves as an example of a successful international partnership.
The joint programme between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 demonstrates how international academic cooperation contributes to the training of specialists capable of addressing the challenges of sustainable development, innovation and environmental responsibility.
