Upcycling: A Creative Master Class Promoting Eco-Awareness and Sustainable Thinking
On November 19, a meaningful and creative workshop on Upcycling was held for fourth-year students of the “Standardization and Certification (by industry)” educational program. The event was conducted by environmental specialist and eco-activist Botakoz Sadykbekbekova. The workshop was supported by Zh. Shortanbayeva and G. Taimanova.
During the workshop, students learned practical methods of giving a “second life” to old clothing, transforming it into modern, stylish pieces through creative redesign. Participants updated their garments with their own hands while gaining a deeper understanding of ecological culture, responsible consumption, and the efficient use of materials.
The event not only enhanced students’ environmental literacy but also fostered their creative thinking, contributing to the development of a culture of sustainable living. The workshop aligns with SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”, and supports SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 13 “Climate Action.”
The Department of Thermal and Technical Physics plans to continue organizing such valuable activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.
