In the framework of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), a round table titled «Microbiome: From Obesity to Depression. How Do Bacteria Influence Immunity, and Where Do the Roots of Diseases Lie?» was held. The aim of the event was to explore the relationship between the microbiome, chronic diseases, mental health, and the immune system. Third-year students discussed key mechanisms linking the microbiome to obesity, depression, and immune dysfunction, and examined the role of the gut microbiota in regulating metabolism, synthesizing neurotransmitters, and developing stress resilience. The scientific basis for the use of probiotics and prebiotics in the prevention of metabolic disorders, depressive conditions, and immune dysregulation was also reviewed. Special attention was given to the impact of diet, stress, and lifestyle on the state of the microbiota, as well as the possibilities of modulating it to improve overall health. The event contributed to the formation of a comprehensive understanding among students regarding the role of the microbiome in the development of chronic diseases and supported the achievement of SDG 3.
