Suicide Prevention Among Youth: Causes and Solutions SDG Alignment: SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
The curatorial session titled "Suicide Prevention Among Youth: Causes and Solutions" (SDG 3 — Good Health and Well-being) was held in Room 203 with the participation of students from group PEiSU-131. The primary objective of this meeting was to emphasize the relevance of suicide prevention among youth, to explain the psychological, academic, and social factors that may lead to suicidal risk, and to develop emotional resilience and help-seeking behavior. Curator Zholamanov B.N. provided global and national suicide statistics, noting the seriousness of the issue, and identified key triggers such as emotional burnout, loneliness, family conflicts, academic pressure, constant comparison, social media stress, and loss of self-value. Early warning signs were discussed, including behavioural changes, withdrawal, sleep disorders, loss of appetite, lack of future motivation, chronic fatigue, and hopelessness. Students were given prevention tools — consulting a psychologist, contacting helplines, using online platforms, speaking openly to friends or their curator. This aligns with SDG №3 and №16 aimed at strengthening mental well-being and developing a safe and supportive social environment. Students actively engaged in discussions about stress management, emotional expression, avoiding bullying, and building trust-based communication within the group. The session improved mental health literacy, encouraged supportive behaviour, and emphasized that seeking help is a strength. As a result, the event contributed to youth safety and reinforced SDG №3, SDG №4 and SDG №16 in practice.
