Second-year master’s students of the educational program “7M02313 – Kazakh Philology” conducted a commemorative and educational lecture titled “The Sholpan Apa I Know…” as part of their research practice.
Within the framework of SDG 4 “Quality Education”, the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with second-year master’s students of the specialty “7M02313 – Kazakh Philology,” organized this commemorative and educational lecture at the A. Baitursynuly Educational-Methodical and Research Center “Language as a Tool” during their research practice.
The event aimed to promote the family heritage of Akhmet Baitursynuly and to familiarize the younger generation with the life path of his daughter, Sholpan Akhmetkyzy, who devoted her entire life to preserving and studying her father’s legacy.
The lecture was held under the guidance of R. S. Imahambet, Director of the A. Baitursynuly Educational-Methodical and Research Center “Language as a Tool”, and G. T. Ospanova, PhD, Associate Professor (Acting), Deputy Head of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory for Scientific-Innovative Activities and International Relations.
Students from grades 8–9 and the teaching staff of School-Lyceum No. 165 attended the event. During the lecture, master’s students Gulnaz Askarova and Asel Rakhymbay delivered detailed reports on Sholpan Akhmetkyzy’s childhood, her difficult fate during the years of political repression, and her significant contribution to preserving and passing on Akhmet Baitursynuly’s heritage to future generations. The speakers also shared valuable archival materials and new data.
To enhance the educational and cultural content of the event, a spiritual and musical atmosphere was created: the master’s students performed a traditional song accompanied by the dombra. After the lecture, participants, together with the organizers, visited Sholpan Akhmetkyzy’s burial site, recited a prayer, and honored her memory.
The educational event contributed to fostering respect for national history among the younger generation, developing interest in personal histories, and deepening understanding of Akhmet Baitursynuly’s family legacy.
