The Image of Power and Greatness

10 december, 2025

In anticipation of the upcoming celebration of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day, a curator’s hour was held on December 10th on the theme “Құдірет пен ұлылықтың бейнесі” (“The Image of Power and Greatness”). The event aimed to promote patriotic values among students, expand their understanding of the historical stages in the formation of independent Kazakhstan, and deepen their appreciation of the importance of national sovereignty.

Y. A. Morugova opened the meeting with a welcoming address and briefly reminded the students of the key historical events that led to Kazakhstan’s independence in 1991. During the discussion, the concepts of құдірет (power) and ұлылық (greatness) were explored as expressions of the state’s spiritual and cultural potential. To enhance students’ engagement with the theme, a video presentation devoted to national symbols, unity, and the achievements of Kazakhstan throughout its years of independence was shown. Following the video, participants reflected on the main ideas and identified the aspects they believed best represent the strength and grandeur of the country.

Special emphasis was placed on the interactive part of the session. Students actively shared their views on Kazakhstan’s recent achievements, citing examples from economics, sports, science, and culture, and highlighting the importance of youth in shaping the country’s future. As part of a creative activity, participants were asked to express their personal understanding of independence through short oral statements or mini-essays on the topic “What does Independence mean to me?” Many students offered sincere and thoughtful responses, showing personal engagement and a meaningful attitude toward the subject.

In conclusion, the advisor highlighted the importance of preserving historical memory, respecting national values, and encouraging active youth participation in public life. The students noted that the event helped them gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of independence, view national symbols from a new perspective, and appreciate the scale of Kazakhstan’s achievements over the years.

The advisor’s hour took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue and intellectual curiosity, fostering students’ patriotic feelings and serving as an important component of the educational activities dedicated to the celebration of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day.
