A Significant Meeting at the Faculty of Journalism
SDG-4 On January 15, 2026, a meeting dedicated to the founding day of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held at the Faculty of Journalism. It was a remarkable event that summarized the achievements of previous years and highlighted the university’s successes. The university has made a major leap forward, reaching a higher level of scientific research and education in the era of globalization and digitalization. It is no coincidence that 2026 was declared the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. Today, the university is implementing more than 700 agreements with higher education institutions and leading research centers in Asia, Europe, and America.
Innovative technologies are being actively introduced into both teaching and research activities at the university. We had the opportunity to visit the Center for Innovative Products and High-Tech Projects, Farabi Hub, where we became acquainted with the science and technology park, the Kazakhstan–Hong Kong Center for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, the Kazakhstan–French Research Center for Central Asian Studies “Zoostan,” the Kazakhstan–Singapore Center for Quantum Technologies, the Kazakhstan–China Joint Laboratory “Remote Sensing Technologies and Their Applications,” and other facilities.
We also visited the International Institute and the Huibo Robotics Center for Digital Technologies and Robotics at KazNU, which houses the Digital and Intelligent Workshop with robotics laboratories and virtual enterprises. However, the supercomputer impressed us the most. The supercomputer cluster will contribute to the development of the national infrastructure and will help solve one of the university’s key objectives—training highly qualified specialists in the IT industry and artificial intelligence. According to Amir Khan Temirbayev, General Director of the Engineering and High Technologies Cluster, the supercomputer’s performance reaches 2,000 teraflops. Tasks that would take modern computers decades to complete can be solved by the supercomputer in just one hour. After exploring the university’s advanced technologies with great interest, we took commemorative photographs. As time passes, this visit of our faculty to Farabi Hub will become history—a document for future generations who will be studying entirely new innovative technologies.
