Associate Professor Saule Yessengaziyeva Presented at the International “Green Silk Road” Symposium in China

In January 2026, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yessengaziyeva Saule, Deputy Head of the Department of Economics for Research and International Relations at the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, took part in the International Symposium “Green Silk Road, Mutual Learning Among Civilizations” held on January 11–14 at Northwest A&F University (Yangling, Shaanxi Province, PRC).

The symposium brought together representatives of the academic community and expert circles from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and focused on discussing the role of regional and area studies, agricultural cooperation, and knowledge transfer in the context of sustainable development and the “Green Silk Road” concept. The event was organized by Northwest A&F University, the SCO Agricultural Research Institute, relevant academic units of the university, as well as the Kazakhstan Research Center at NWAFU, with institutional support from the university’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges.

Within the scientific program, Associate Professor Yessengaziyeva Saule delivered a presentation devoted to the academic mobility of international students in Kazakhstan as a tool for mutual learning among civilizations and for promoting the principles of sustainable development. Her presentation emphasized the role of educational mobility in shaping environmentally oriented development models and in strengthening intercultural and scientific dialogue within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative.

It was noted that, in implementing the “Green Silk Road” concept, Kazakhstan is consistently integrating into the international educational and scientific space while expanding cooperation in the fields of green technologies, renewable energy, and the rational use of natural resources. Further expansion of academic mobility programs is viewed as an important factor in strengthening the country’s position within the regional sustainable development system.

Associate Professor Yessengaziyeva Saule participation’s in the symposium contributed to the development of Kazakh–Chinese academic cooperation and identified new areas of collaboration between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Northwest A&F University, including joint research projects, academic exchanges, and initiatives within the framework of the SCO.

The symposium was moderated by Professor Wei Feng of Northwest A&F University and was organized at a very high professional level.

The symposium once again confirmed the significance of the concept of mutual learning among civilizations as a methodological foundation for addressing contemporary global challenges and promoting an inclusive model of sustainable development.
