Participation of KazNU Representatives in a School Round Table: Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence

14 january, 2026

On 12 January 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Serik Aitzhanov, and Senior Lecturer, PhD Aidos Shakir took part in a round-table discussion held as part of the ten-day program of the “Natural Science Subjects” methodological association at School No. 6 named after А. Moldabekov, located in the village of A. Tokpanov, Ili District, Almaty Region. During the round table, Serik Aitzhanov delivered a presentation on the degree programs taught at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, as well as on the benefits and potential risks of artificial intelligence, sharing engaging and informative insights. Aidos Shakir, in turn, presented students with information about abstract algebra and geometry, the foundations of which are laid from the school years. We hope that this meeting had a significant impact on students’ choice of KazNU as a higher education institution for further study and also contributed to increasing their interest in mathematics.

The content of the event directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily SDG 4 — Quality Education (broadening students’ horizons in mathematics, natural sciences, and AI, as well as providing career guidance), and SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (promoting artificial intelligence and innovative thinking in STEM). Such collaboration between university representatives and the school strengthens the continuity between education and science, supports students in making informed choices about higher education, and fosters a culture of responsible use of modern technologies.

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics, PhD
