On February 6, 2026, the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics organized an environmental education event entitled “Digital Cleanup Day.” The event was conducted in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
The purpose of the event was to increase students’ environmental responsibility, promote a culture of environmental protection, and develop skills for efficient resource use in the digital environment. Through the concept of digital ecology, students were introduced to the principles of responsible consumption, reduction of excessive information and data, and digital cleanliness.

During the event, students:
1. deleted spam messages, advertising subscriptions, and unnecessary emails from their inboxes;
2. cleaned cloud services (Google Drive, etc.) by removing redundant, duplicated, and outdated files;
3. removed unnecessary applications and spam messages from their mobile devices.

As a result, students recognized the importance of environmental education and responsible consumption in the digital environment and developed conscious digital behavior skills in accordance with SDG 12.
