SDG 15: “Greenery is the Nation’s Wealth” Greening Campaign Successfully Held

Sustainable development is a development model that seeks to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Under the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, 17 global goals have been established, including Goal 15 – Life on Land, which focuses on protecting terrestrial ecosystems, conserving biodiversity, and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.

In support of this objective, on February 13, 2026, the Department of Computer Science organized an environmental greening campaign titled “Greenery is the Nation’s Wealth.” The event was conducted in alignment with the initiatives of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at strengthening environmental protection, fostering ecological responsibility, and advancing sustainable development principles.

Faculty members and students of the Department of Computer Science actively participated in flower planting, campus greening, and beautification activities across the university premises. During the event, participants highlighted the environmental, social, and aesthetic value of expanding green spaces and discussed the importance of cultivating responsible environmental behavior.

This initiative contributed to enhancing environmental awareness among youth, strengthening civic engagement, and promoting values of sustainability, volunteerism, and social responsibility. Furthermore, the campaign supported the development of collaborative skills, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development competencies within the student community.

The Department of Computer Science remains committed to continuing the implementation of environmentally focused and socially impactful initiatives, actively engaging students in environmental conservation efforts and contributing to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
