The student law clinic conducted legal awareness activities on referendum issues
On February 18, 2026, a meeting was held at al-Farabi Kazakh National University with students of grades 9–11 from gymnasiums №174 and № 200 of Almaty.
During the event, important political campaigns in the country were widely discussed, including issues related to the planned referendum on the new Constitution. The main purpose of the meeting was to enhance the legal literacy of young people, to shape their civic position, and to provide comprehensive information on significant changes concerning the development of the state.
The meeting was attended by gymnasium teachers, as well as representatives of the student law clinic at the faculty of law of the university, namely: dean of the faculty of law, candidate of legal sciences, professor Akhatov Ualikhan Akypbekuly; head of the department of customs, financial and environmental law, doctor of legal sciences, professor Kuanaliyeva Guldana Amangeldikyzy; professor of the department, candidate of legal sciences Aigarinova Gulnar Toleukhadirkyzy; director of the student law clinic, doctor of legal sciences, professor Baideldinov Daulet Laikovich; senior lecturers PhD, Kanat Kozhabek, Zhapakov Sabyrzhan Maliuly, Bakirov Darkhan Abdymanapuly and Yeleussizova Nurgul Toleubekkyzy, as well as other representatives of the law clinic.
During the meeting, students expressed their opinions on the content of the constitutional amendments, their impact on society, and the rights and obligations of citizens, and asked their questions. The event was held in an open format, and participants actively exchanged views.
In addition, students received legal consultations and were informed about the procedure for participating in the referendum, citizens’ constitutional rights, and their responsibility before the law. The specialists provided specific examples and addressed issues frequently encountered in everyday life.
At the end of the event, the importance of youth participation in socio-political processes and the enhancement of legal culture was emphasized. Such meetings contribute to the formation of civic awareness among students and strengthen their legal knowledge.
