Research Seminar on Intercultural Communication Held at the Department of Chinese Studies
On March 10, 2026, a research seminar entitled “Studying China’s Educational and Media Initiatives in Kazakhstan in the Context of Intercultural Communication: An Empirical Analysis Based on Contact Zone Theory and Field Theory” was held at the Department of Chinese Studies. The seminar was organized as part of the research project of first-year PhD student Manay Gulgina of the “8D02209 – Oriental Studies” program.
During the seminar, China’s educational and media initiatives in Kazakhstan were discussed in detail. The discussion integrated contact zone theory and field theory into a unified analytical framework, allowing for a comprehensive analysis based on field research materials.
In addition, the perceptions and opinions of audiences within the communication space regarding these initiatives were examined. The research results not only provided practical recommendations for enhancing intercultural communication between China and Kazakhstan but also introduced new theoretical tools for studying intercultural communication in the era of globalization.
The scientific conclusions presented during the seminar were highly appreciated both theoretically and practically. Participants also shared their comments and suggestions.
