Pharmacy students expand their academic experience in Japan.
From 23 February to 6 March 2026, second‑ to fourth‑year students of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare, EP Pharmacy participated in a short‑term academic program at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
The program aimed to broaden students’ academic horizons, introduce them to the Japanese higher‑education system and current trends in pharmaceutical sciences, and strengthen their intercultural communication skills. During almost two weeks, our students attended lectures and seminars, learned about the research fields of Japanese professors, observed modern laboratory facilities, and experienced campus life at a leading Japanese university. In addition to the academic component, the schedule included cultural activities that allowed participants to discover Japanese traditions, food, public transport, and everyday etiquette. Students prepared and delivered short group presentations in English, shared their study and research interests, and practiced public speaking in an international environment. According to their feedback, the program significantly increased their motivation to continue studies, helped them clarify future career plans, and inspired several students to consider pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees in Japan. Overall, this short‑term visit provided valuable international experience, fostered new academic connections, and demonstrated the importance of student mobility for professional growth and personal development.
