October 24-25, 2016 undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science KazNU named after Al-Farabi took a part in the International Youth Scientific-Research Conference "Innovation potential of youth: globalization, politics, integration." It was organized by Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi jointly with the Russian Federal Agency for Youth, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, the KyrgyzRussian Slavic University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N.Yeltsin.
Young scientists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan took part in the on-line discussion platform "The quality of the organization of the youth in a global context: the challenges and the ways of development". Undergraduate and graduate students from Kazakhstan covered the topic of fighting the spread of drug addiction among young people.
Second year Master student majoring in "Psychology" AizhanImasheva expressed the view that fighting drugs should begin from a school time. In general young people turn to drugs as a means of overcoming depression, often because of the impossibility to cope with difficult life situations on its own. She noted that it is necessary to increase the hours of work of school psychologists, because the problem of drug addiction among young people - is primarily a psychological dependence.
Second year Master student majoring in "Political Science", a member of the Conference SyrymItkulov explained that a significant impact on the growth of the number of drug addicts in Kazakhstan has a passage for drug trafficking in Kazakhstan, which is in transit for delivery drug raw materials to Western countries. Afghanistan is the main focus of the origin of the drug in our region. Master of psychology from Afghanistan MujtabaMahfoozsaid: "The main internal problem with drugs in Afghanistan is the emergence and growth of the number of drug addicts among the Afghan population. Every year more capacity of the produced drugs is used within the country. Recent studies have shown that the number of addicts in the country has reached 3 million in 2014, 3,000 of whom are children aged from 3 to 12 years. Illiteracy, poverty, war and lack of security are the main causes of drug abuse in Afghanistan."
Student majoring in "Psychology" AbishevaPerizat said that one of the solutions to the problem of the drug abuse among young people could be working on improving the level of emotional intelligence. According to the research, drug addiction has a direct relationship with the level of emotional intelligence. People with the high emotional intelligence can easily cope with any change, effectively manage their own emotions, and successfully interact with others, thereby reducing the risk of drug dependence.
The participants had the unique opportunity to get satisfactory answers on issues of interest from foreign interlocutors, to openly express their views on the topic, demonstrate and improve their competence, as well as to apply existing knowledge in the course of joint discussions on a number of topical issues.
