Zhambyl Zhabayev - the Poet of Great Steppe
On February 22, 2021, Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies held a festive event dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Zhambyl Zhabayev. The 1st year students of the specialty “Journalism” and “Foreign Philology” took part in the organization of the online conference. They spoke three languages at the conference. The students prepared the informative and bright presentations, accompanied by the interesting comments, which allowed them to discover the most significant historical facts from the famous akyn’s life.
Zhambyl Zhabayev is a Kazakh folk poet-akyn. In his songs, Zhambyl truthfully narrated about life of ordinary people. Zhambyl's poetic style was distinguished by psychological richness and concreteness of the image of life, sincerity and epic simplicity of the narration. His songs represent a bright page of Kazakh literature of the Soviet period.
Foreign students from the People’s Republic of China (Shi Chengxiao) and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Phan Ngoc Mai) made the event very unforgettable due to their reports in English. The students of Philology specialty managed to embellish their speech with bright epithets, allowing the audience to temporarily immerse themselves in the atmosphere of poetry.
Students of Faculty of Journalism Kazhymurat Akniyet and Murat Kymbat read the poems of Zhambyl Zhabayev that added a sense of presence at the poetry evening.
