TRANSLATOR IS A PERSON OF SIGNIFICANCE IN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIO
The International Center for Intercultural Communication and Translation Studies at the Diplomatic Translation Department held the online scientific and educational seminar "Translator as the central figure of international communication" on March 13, 2021 at 15.00 in the Zoom platform in which foreign and Kazakhstani scholars took part.
Training of highly competent professional translators, conference interpreters in the field of international relations is a task not of one particular institution, but of the education system in general.
The purpose of the seminar is to bring together scholars, professionals, professors from many countries of the world who are interested in teaching Translation Studies, Linguistics and other translation activities.
Interpreters from France and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, scholars from France, Germany, Russia and Great Britain and Kazakhstan were invited to participate in the seminar who have presented their research in the field of linguistics, intercultural communication and translation.
Key speakers were:
- Irina ALEKSEEVA, candidate of the philological sciences, professor, Director of the School of Conference Interpreting & Translation (Russia). Topic: Scenario approach is a strategy for success in training a diplomatic translator
- Meiram ISLAM , translator of the international organization "Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia" (CICA). Topic: Technical and operational aspects of conference interpreter
- Juliane HOUSE, professor, translator-linguist, President of the International Association of Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS), (Germany). Topic: Translation as Intercultural Communication)
- Gulshat BAKHYTJAN, candidate of the philological sciences, PhD of the Aberdine University (Scotland). Topic: The structure and research methods of scientific work in the specialty "translation studies"
- Raphael FAIZON, interpreter, master of the Poitiers University (France). Topic: The impact of new technologies on the translation market in years to come
- Svetlana FILIMONOVA,

Speakers presented their scientific, research topics in the sphere of linguistics, intercultural communication and translation activities. The seminar was interesting and useful for participants of the seminar. They actively asked questions and had lively discussions.
