The Department of Recreation Geography and Tourism of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has signed an agreement on the internship of students of the specialty "Restaurant and hotel business" at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Within the framework of special disciplines, the department strengthens a practice-oriented approach to teaching and develops professional skills in the field of services and hospitality.

The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty is the first luxury hotel that opened in Central Asia and operates not under a franchise, but under the direct management of the brand, which, of course, means high standards in everything. The hotel opened in 2013 in the tallest building in Central Asia and occupies 10 floors in the Esentai Tower, from 20 to 30 floors.

A practice-oriented approach to training is the best way to become a qualified specialist.

By choosing this direction, our students had the opportunity to become highly qualified specialists in the hospitality industry and actually apply their knowledge gained in the University classrooms, as well as supplement them with practice and experience.

There is nothing better for a student of the specialty "Restaurant and hotel business" than internship at catering and hospitality enterprises. As part of the study of the discipline "Fundamentals of Culinary Art", our group was lucky enough to be at the Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Having spent only a few days in the hotel as its employee, I have already made a large number of notes and comments for myself, which in the future will help me to properly organize the process of serving guests. It is not by chance that I use the word "guest". From the very beginning of the working day, employees of enterprises bear a great responsibility for how much visitors will like the services provided. And here it is important that all employees who are in direct contact with guests have such qualities as hospitality, friendliness, responsiveness, politeness. It is important to understand that every person who comes to the hotel, as a guest in the house, should feel cozy and comfortable.

There are still a lot of nuances that we have to learn by attending practical classes. And I am sure that we will understand, remember and learn how to apply all of them in business, because the Ritz-Carlton hotel has very good employees who are always ready to help in various situations and suggest the right solution!
