A SOLEMN MEETING DEDICATED TO THE REPUBLIC DAY WAS HELD

A solemn meeting dedicated to the Republic Day was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. It was attended by the management of the educational institution, the teaching staff and the young people studying.
The festive event was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev. "I heartily congratulate you on the Republic Day, a national holiday revived by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev! The Declaration on State Sovereignty, adopted on October 25, 1990, approved the borders, citizenship, diplomatic independence, and state symbols of Kazakhstan. This document is the main prerequisite and pillar of our independence. An important and historic decision was the return of the celebration of the Republic Day on the way to the creation of a new Kazakhstan," the rector said.


In his speech, the head of the university focused on the important events that took place in the country this year, and emphasized the role of educated youth in the formation of a new Kazakhstan. A lot of work is being done in this direction at the university.


At the beginning of the year, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University rose to 150th place in the QS WUR world ranking. This year, by Government decree, KazNU was awarded the status of a research university. With the support of the Head of State in the Turkish city of Istanbul and the Kyrgyz Republic, in Bishkek, KazNU branches have started working.


Recently, a branch of the Russian National Research Nuclear University MEPhI was opened in KazNU with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. Also, for the benefit of students, repair work was carried out in classrooms and dormitories.


After the congratulatory speech, the Rector of KazNU awarded the representatives of the faculty and staff of the University, who made a significant contribution to the development of education and science, with the medal "Eren enbegi Usin" and a Certificate of Honor.






Eleonora Suleimenova, Professor of the Faculty of Philology of KazNU, academician of the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher School, spoke at the solemn event, who recalled the mood of society in the 1990s. "It was a wonderful period, full of great expectations. The Declaration demonstrated Kazakhsta's sovereignty to the whole world. The main principles of our statehood were voiced in it: the integrity, inviolability of its territory, the tasks of reviving and developing the original culture, traditions, language of the Kazakh people and other ethnic groups of Kazakhstan," the professor said, calling for a worthy celebration of the national holiday.






And a young scientist, PhD doctor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan Almas Toksanbayev analyzed the contribution of the Declaration of State Sovereignty to raising the status of the nation in the modern Kazakh state. Our leaders stressed that they spared no effort, energy and knowledge to adopt an important document. "This significant date has great weight in the history of the country. Today, for the education of patriotism in Kazakh youth, it is important to awaken interest and love for history. In modern society, it is clear which giant countries are states created by history. In addition, we must update the Republic Day, fostering respect for the nation and the pursuit of knowledge and science," Almas Toksanbayev said.






The event ended with a festive concert. The Tumar group presented a medley of folk songs and lifted the mood of the audience. The ensemble "Farabi", dancers and singers of KazNU performed songs, decorating the festive evening.
