On March 13, 2023, the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a "consul's hour" within the framework of the "week of Chinese Studies". The consul general of the people's Republic of China in Almaty, Mrs. Jiang Wei, came with a special invitation and gave a lecture on the topic: "the current state and prospects of relations between Kazakhstan and the people's Republic of China". The lecture was attended by the teaching staff of the faculty, students, undergraduates and doctoral students. The students met face to face with the consul general and received specific answers to their questions about China, education in the PRC and international relations between Kazakhstan and China. After that, a delegation from the Consulate of the PRC visited the faculty and got acquainted with the life of the faculty. The dean of the faculty N. B. em and the head of the Department of Chinese Studies E. A. Kerimbayev presented the faculty to the guests and discussed the development of cooperation between the two institutions.
