Studying abroad is always stressful. To make it easier for my students to adapt to a new life I always discuss topics comparing Kazakhstan with their native countries. I am really happy to have smart and wonderful students in my group from Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan. These are stories about their first impression of KazNU.

My first impression of KazNU
The first impression of Kazakh National University of Al-Farabi was my wondering: "Why is it so huge?". Secondly, I admired its vast territory and thought of the university as the city within the city. Lastly, I fell in love with the mountain view, which fascinates me to this day. The university administration was professional enough to provide me with the dormitory 15 minutes before their work day was over. With that, I headed to the dormitory with my 30kg suitcase and more than 10kg bag, exhausted but jubilant. Yet, I was lucky to not carry it alone as in every way there were gentlemen who helped me carry my baggage. As the conclusion of my first day in Almaty and the first impressions, I entered the room with 4 other Kazakh girls, who lent me their mattresses and made me feel very welcomed and whom I am still close friends with. Yet, the first evening, I remember myself sitting on a chair fully covering myself with the blanket I brought from Turkmenistan, as I was freezing. My newly made roommates were in shorts as for them it was hot. I was unbelievably cold. In essence, while experiencing my first impressions of the country and the university I proudly overcame some obstacles and experienced many memorable moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

My first impression of KazNU
When it was my first day of studying in this university, I felt excited, but I was very nervous at the same time because many things were new for me. That day was wonderful, and I am completely sure, that it was the beginning of the coolest part of my life. First of all, I am fond of my classmates. They are all interesting people. I am really happy to meet new people and our university gives me such an opportunity. I have less subjects, but all of them are important for my future profession. I am learning Russian and attend physical culture lessons, but it introduces some diversity to my schedule. In addition, I am really happy to learn English, because it is one of my hobbies and the teacher is so nice. The first impression of her was really great, she supported me so much. I like my classes that happen every week. Therefore, my first impression of KazNU was great and I am happy with it.

My First week at KazNU
At first, I was afraid to face new people in the university. My first class was Abai’s Teaching and I still remember when I entered the class the teacher was already there and she was so friendly and cooperative that I mistakenly considered her as my classmate but later on when the class started and she started to teach us I was shocked that she is my class teacher
My second day at the University was the most challenging for me. As I had the Kazakh language class and I didn’t even understand a single word of my teacher. I was regretting at that day why I came here. I was fully demotivated that I won’t going to make it. I went back to my dormitory after the class, had a sleep and after I woke up, I texted my teacher. My teacher motivated in a really kind way. I really appreciate her support which made me feel better. After discussing my problems with her I was feeling like I can easily do it.
. At the end of the first week of my University I promised myself that I am going to achieve what I am here for and will make my university as well my country stand out from others.

My First week at KazNU
My name is Mohammad Nawid Mohibi. I am from Afghanistan. In the first week that I came to KazNU, I faced a new and different environment. First of all, the weather was very cold. I was not used to being so cold. The first week was a little difficult for me, but later everything was normal for me. I was very happy to see this university and I have the chance to study in this university. What caught my attention was the Al-Farabi statue, which was very well designed. From all the problems I had at the beginning of the emergence of classes because I was not familiar with the environment and atmosphere of the university, I could not easily find the classes. Two days passed and I got to know the environment and atmosphere of the university and I found that the class became easy for me. The big problem was that the classes were in different buildings and I still didn't know the classroom buildings.

4. Aizada: Everyone has their own interests. I am proud to speak English well, because it is a modern requirement. It is really good that in our country, English is taught as a third language, that is, as a language of communication with other countries, so I consider it my goal to master this language well, and I can even say it is my hobby.
5. Tamerlan: I can watch and understand programs and movies of many countries in English from various cable TV channels. When I watch a foreign film without translation, I understand it more deeply and have a different impression.

Now I want to learn English very well, so I do my best to expand my vocabulary and try to speak fluently on my own. The main thing is that I know that English is very necessary for my future work.
9. Roza: I listen to English music a lot and I want to understand the meaning of those lyrics.
Basically, my goal is to master English and after graduating from this school, I want to get a job in a company that requires the English competence, because the salary will be high, or I want to study abroad. As you know, these days English is required in all places.
