PROFESSOR OF THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY HELD A LEADERSHIP LECTURE AT KAZNU
Former US Ambassador, Professor of the School of International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania Dennis Jett delivered a leadership lecture at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic: "Peacekeeping and the Evolution of Conflict".
The Guest of honor was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev. Introducing the lecturer, he focused on the main milestones of his biography. Dennis Jett is one of the founders of the Penn State University School of International Relations. He held the position of Science attache in Tel Aviv, as well as a number of positions in the US State Department. He was a special assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council, worked as the US Ambassador to Mozambique. For his efforts to strengthen democracy in Peru, he was subsequently awarded the Order of the Sun by the Peruvian Government in 2001, as well as awards from the Lima daily newspaper La Republica and Frequencia Latina, Channel 2 TV channel. "We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the opportunity to meet with you, your lecture as a diplomat, scientist, statesman is very valuable for the professional development and personal growth of students," the head of the university stressed.
In response, Professor D.Jett replied that he was struck by "the hospitality of the Kazakh people and the university, which has a deep history, traditions, ambitious plans and a bright future." In a lecture on the topic of peacekeeping, Dennis Jet shared his experience as a diplomat when he had to deal with conflict resolution issues in Argentina, Israel, Malawi, Mozambique and other countries of the world. "Why is maintaining peace so important to us? When there is a conflict in another part of the world, there are two options: you can ignore it or stop it with the help of the influence of the international community," the lecturer stressed.
