According to the results of accepting applications for the competition for awarding educational grants, 2,452 applicants submitted applications at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. It is noteworthy that 1904 schoolchildren applied with the Kazakh language of instruction, which was 78%. Accordingly, 548 applicants or 22% take part in the competition in the Russian language of instruction. By the way, only 3 applicants (%) applied in English. It should be noted that the proportion of applicants in English remains small.
All applicants take part in the competition for a full form of study. Data on applicants indicate the proportion of graduates of educational schools with high indicators of educational abilities. Thus, students with a certificate and a diploma with honors made up 18% or 455 applicants. At the same time, students with the distinction "Altyn Belgi" number 260 people, that is, every tenth (11%) who applied to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has a high distinction.
The most popular faculties are the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, the Faculty of Information Technology and the Higher School of Economics and Business. Thus, among the selected educational programs were noted: B055 - Mathematics and Statistics, B063 – Electrical Engineering and Automation, B057 – Information Technology, B044 - Management and Management, B050 - Biological and Related Sciences, B049 - Law, B054 – Physics.

According to the admission of applications for the competition for targeted grants for western, densely populated and newly created regions of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the admissions committee conducted information and explanatory work among applicants and their parents on targeted educational grants allocated for Atyrau and Mangystau regions (1500 grants).
107 grants were allocated for the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Atyrau region, and 130 grants were allocated for the Mangystau region for groups of educational programs of the natural science direction. Applicants have chosen four groups of educational programs and four higher educational institutions, in the order in which they can theoretically receive a grant for training. According to the first position, our university was chosen by 98 applicants, according to the second – 232, the third – 247, and the fourth – 229 applicants. The admissions committee assumes that the percentage of disbursement of targeted grants allocated to the Treasury is expected to be 78%.
In addition, according to republican statistics, applicants submitted documents for a competition for state educational grants to the al-Farabi KazNU - 4005 people.
Thus, in 2023, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University provided a state service for accepting documents for state educational grants in total – 6555 people.
