On-Line Course on “Academic Writing: The Structure of a Research Paper” is ready!

Research is not only about conducting experiments and making discoveries. Research is about writing a successful and impressive scientific paper and publication of  it  in scientific journals. The choice of the course content on the basics of «The Structure of a Research Paper» was not accidental.

Everybody engaged in scientific work knows from their experience that  writing  research papers is a difficult and daunting task, especially when they were undergraduate and graduate students. To help write a good scientific article, we have prepared an online course: "Academic Writing: The Structure of a Research Paper”.

The goal of this course is to equip students with the necessary knowledge on the basics of the structure of a research paper, explain the contents of its components and give a step-by-step guide to writing each of its sections.  The course is designed for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, young researchers and all who are engaged in research activities. We believe that this course will provide students with knowledge, experience and practical skills that will strengthen their performance as independent researchers.  We also believe that on the completion of the course students will be able to formulate an attractive Title, interesting Abstract, good Introduction and reliable and valid Materials and Methods  sections.

What is the course like?

The course consists of four Modules which include ten lectures . It lasts 15 weeks.

Module 1 comprises the following lectures: “The Title of a Research Paper”, “How to Wright an Abstract?”

Module 2: “How to Wright an Introduction of a Research Paper?”, “Literature Review”.

Module 3: “Materials and Methods section”, “The Contents and Structure of the Materials and Methods Section of a Research Paper “(part 1)”, The Contents and Structure of the Materials and Methods Section of a Research Paper “(part 2).

Module 4: “How to Write the Results Section of a Research Paper?”, “How to Write the Discussion Section of a Research Paper”, “How to Write the Conclusion Section of a Research Paper?”.

Each Module is accompanied by questions for self-control, exercises for consolidating and internalizing theoretical knowledge gained from the lectures and writing 250 word essays on the topic of the students’ research works. Course participants have the opportunity to get a certificate if they complete the lecture course and complete all the tasks and score 75 points out of 100.
