The International Summer School of Journalism and Communications will be held jointly with media organizations in France - # ISSJC2023

On August 19-23, 2023, the Summer International School of Journalism and Communications together with media organizations of France will be held in the sports and recreation camp of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on Issyk-Kul in the village of Bosteri.

The Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of the Representative Office of the UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan, the regional attache of the French Embassy in Russia for audiovisual cooperation in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Academy of Media Monde of France and the National Audiovisual Institute in Paris will host the X Summer School of Journalism and Communications.

The aim of the courses is to integrate and adapt the curriculum of the Academy of Media Monde of France and the National Audiovisual Institute of Paris on digital media in Central Asian countries.
The developments and recommendations in the presented courses are aimed at acquiring skills and mastering the tools of mobile media tools in achieving a sustainable future: SDG 4 - Quality education, SDG 5 - Gender equality, SDG 16 – Peace, justice and effective institutions.

The event will be attended by journalists, students and teachers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The summer school program includes courses "Fact-checking" for teachers, "Shooting by mobile phone" for students.

The director of the France 24 Academy, Antoine Cormery, will lead a course for teachers and media practitioners on fact-checking. Antoine Cormery, a graduate of the Paris Center for Training Journalists, has extensive experience in the field of media and journalism. He was a reporter for AFP (French News Agency) and RFI (France International Radio), Europe 1, France 2 and France Info Radio.

Antoine Cormery teaches at the School of Journalism at Sciences Po (Institute of Political Studies), as well as at educational courses for various international media (Algerian National Radio, Mali National Television, Tunisian National Television, NESSMA TV, 2M Morocco, Radio Lebanon, RTBF, Radio, Ivory Coast Television).

One of the mentors is Polina Chubar, a journalist at the SARAH agency in Paris, specializing in open data research, data search in social networks, satellite imagery, and the study of data on aircraft and ships. Polina Chubar is fluent in Russian, German, English, French.

At the Mobile Video course organized by the National Institute of Audiovisual Instruments in Paris, conducted by French journalist and coach Pierre Laurent for five days, students will learn how to shoot news reports on a mobile phone, interview, create their own stories from filming to editing and online broadcast.

During the summer school, Memoranda will be signed between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the French Academy of France Media Monde, the French Higher School of Journalism of Lille (École supérieure de journalisme de Lille), the French Media Development Agency of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (French Media Development Agency), Canal France International (CFI).

The programs of the Lille Higher School of Journalism in France ESJ Lille with the France Média Monde Academy "Media Ethics" and "Mobile Filming" will also be implemented at the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
