KazNU is a friendship place between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan

We are proud that Kazakhstan is a multinational state with the  representatives of 130 nationalities living  peacefully with each other under one roof . Kazakhstan maintains fraternal relationships with all Central Asian countries and Turkmenistan is one of them.  One of the firm indicators of this friendship is enrollment of Turkmen students in  al-Farabi KazNU.

This academic  year, 17 students from Turkmenistan came to study at the Faculty of Philology. Their choice was the specialty of “Translation Studies” , which is taught by the  Department of Foreign Philology and Translation  Studies of our university .  On October 4,2022 at the initiative of the Philology Faculty Dean and senior teacher of the department of foreign philology ,candidate of philological sciences Bayeli Asel Zharylkasynovna   an event the key message of which was  “KazNU is a  place of friedship between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan” was  organized . The purpose of this educational  event  was integration of Turkmenistan students into  a big and friendly community of KazNU students and  say to them “You are welcome to our Philological Faculty!”. The participants were the 1st year Tukmenistan students and Philological faculty students.

The event started with the students’ performance  of the Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan  national anthems . Then  the  participants listened to the presentation about their native land  prepared by Yuldashev Ravshabek and Sabirova Shahista. It was an interesting educational  story about Turkmenistan. KazNU students could learn many interesting facts about this country and thei culture.   A group of Turkmen students performed  their national songs and showed amazing   folk dances.   The audience was greatly impressed   when Khoshgeldieva and Begmuradova Mahri   recited  the poems by  poet Makthymkuly (nickname - Fragi) in Turkmen language.   Makthymkuly is a classic poet of the Turkmen people who lived in the 18th century. He was a classic of Turkmen literature whose name stands alongside with  the great poets of the East, Firdousi, Saghdi, Nizami, Nawaii. The most favorite part of the event  for those present  was tasting of national Turkmen dishes. The atmosphere of the event was  highly emotional and inspirational!

Among participant  of the event was  the  Honored Guest - Annakuliyeva Gulnara Ataevna,  candidate of economic sciences, academician,  organizer and head of the Turkmen public and cultural fund in Almaty, member of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan, holder  of the 2nd degree of the Order of Friendship. The event was very successful and exciting.  Acquaintance with Turkmenistan   and  its culture was  interesting and  useful!

From year to year an increasing number of students  from abroad choose to study at al-Farabi University  One of the challenges  International students face in a host University is their adaptation to a new environment.  It is therefore particularly important to provide domestic and international students with  opportunities to meet each other in a wide range of  extracurricular activities. Hopefully, the event  under the name “You are welcome to our Philological Faculty” will promote  the successful integration of Turkmen students into our University community.
