Kemel Tokayev Auditorium opened in KazNU

Within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the famous writer, founder of the detective genre, journalist, public figure Kemel Tokayev in the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University opened an auditorium named after Kemel Tokayev.

 

The ceremony was attended by state and public figures, poets and writers, historians, intellectuals and scientists, faculty and students of the university.

At the beginning, the audience visited the exhibition, where Kemel Tokayev's works from the collection of Al-Farabi Library and photos depicting bright moments of his life were presented. The exhibition included articles of the figure published on the pages of newspapers and magazines, documents and memories of the frontline soldiers.

At the opening of the audience the head of the university Zhanseit Tuimebaev made a welcoming speech, who dwelled on the labor path of Kemel Tokayev. In his speech, the rector noted the special contribution of the writer in the development of not only detective genre of our country, but also the literature of Central Asian countries.

"Many famous personalities have graduated from the Faculty of Journalism. Kemel Tokayev is one of our alumni who studied at this great school. He is a bright personality, an outstanding writer who was recognized early in journalistic and literary circles due to his unique talent. This year, not only in the country, but also in the whole Turkic world, the 100th anniversary of writer Kemel Tokayev is widely celebrated. On September 22 in Turkey we held an international conference "Kemel Tokayev - public figure, outstanding writer, famous journalist". KazNU organized this event together with the scientific center "Farabi-Eurasia" of Istanbul University. During the conference the book of the head of the state Kasym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev "Word about the father", translated into Turkish, was presented.

Our main goal is to study Kemel Tokayev's creative heritage from a new point of view, to present it to the Turkic world. Propaganda of tireless and painstaking labor and enlightening life for the sake of the development of the spirituality of the nation", - said the rector.

At the end of his speech, the head of the university said: "I am sure that the Kemel Tokayev Auditorium opened today will become an excellent school for training future journalists and writers".

During the event, the book "Daraboza Detective", published for the 100th anniversary of Kemel Tokayev, was also presented. This collection consists of three parts. The first part, called "Kemel kokzhiyeri" presents previously unpublished works of fiction and journalism of the writer. The second part, called "Kalamdastar Kurmeti", collected the memories of famous scientists and contemporaries about the beautiful man. And the third part called "Izbasarlar izeti" contains articles of modern Kazakhstani journalists and literary critics about Kemel Tokayev. The book includes materials taken from the archive of the Central State Film and Photo Documents and Audio Records of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, this collection was enriched with photos and books of the author from the library fund of Al-Farabi KazNU.

The collegial meeting was addressed by: state and public figure Amandyk Batalov, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications and Head of the UN Information Center in Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan Bauyrzhan Zhakyp, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Roza Kairbaeva. They expressed their opinion about the civil aspect and emphasized the peculiarities of Kemel Tokayev's writing.

In turn, the writer Nagashybek Kapalbek sent warm greetings to Kemel Tokayev's classmate, famous journalist Khanymbibi Akzholova, who turned 102 today. Her congratulatory letter said: "I am proud of the fact that I studied at KazNU. I still remember the calm, balanced character and personality of Kemel Tokayev. He wrote articles in newspapers, actively participated in public activities of the university. Kemel Tokayev became famous for his adventure works. Today, opening a classroom named after such a personality in an educational institution is a great event and a good initiative".

The auditorium named after Kemel Tokayev is decorated in a modern style. It presents the works of the writer, collections and books about the writer, his photos. Conditions for free learning of the young people studying are created.

Kemel Tokayev was born on October 2, 1923 in Karatal district of Almaty region. In 1948, he graduated from Kazakh State University. Later he held responsible positions in the editorial offices of the newspapers Leninshil Zhas (now Zhas Alash), Kazakhstan Pioneeri (now Ұlan), Socialistik Kazakhstan (now Egemen Kazakhstan). In 1960-1977 he worked as editor-in-chief of "Vedomosti" of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR, in 1980-1984 as literary adviser of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan. More than a dozen books on the subject of Soviet Chekists have been published in Kazakh and Russian languages. Kemel Tokayev is an outstanding writer who founded the detective genre in Kazakh literature and created works devoted to the theme of war. He is the author of such books as "Star Trek", "Winter Swallow", "Night Shot", "Hostility", "Important Assignment", "Gold with Tamga", "The Last Strike", "The Soldier Went to War", "Bird without a Nest" and others.
