Almaty, October 7 – Last Saturday, October 7, students, teachers and staff of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University gathered together to take part in a large–scale clean-up action. This event became a vivid example of civic engagement and social responsibility, emphasizing the importance of caring for nature and the environment.

The subbotnik, which took place on the territory of the university, was organized within the framework of the Green Kazakhstan initiative, aimed at supporting environmental initiatives and improving the state of the environment. The participants of the subbotnikassumed responsibility for the welfare of their university and the adjacent campus territories.

Activists and university students gathered early in the morning, armed with shovels, bags and gloves, to start cleaning the territory. During the subbotnik, an analysis of the state of the adjacent territories was carried out, garbage accumulation sites and measures to prevent them were identified. The participants worked actively for several hours, removing garbage, mowing lawns and taking care of green spaces.

However, the subbotnik at al-Farabi University was not just an action to clean up the territory. It was a symbol of unity and solidarity of students and teachers united by a common goal – to create a clean and green environment for learning and development. Students not only learned to clean up after themselves, but also spread awareness of the importance of caring for nature among other students and university staff.

Activists plan to continue similar initiatives in the future, emphasizing that everyone can contribute to the preservation of the environment and the creation of a sustainable future for all. The subbotnik at al-FarabiUniversity has become an important step in the direction of cleaner and greener Kazakhstan, and will certainly leave its mark in the hearts of all participants.
