The project "Region - Central Asia: journalistic education on migration issues" was launched in KazNU
Al-Farabi KazNU launched the project "Region-Central Asia: Journalism Education on Migration" within the framework of UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC). The project is implemented by the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication with the support of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The event was attended by members of the working group from five Central Asian countries, representatives of the UN and UNESCO, national and public organizations in the field of migration, scientists and journalists. Sergey Karpov, Head of Communication and Information Department of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, UNESCO Program Officer for Communication and Information in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan moderated the event.
Welcoming the participants member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of KazNU Zhamilya Aitzhanova noted that Al-Farab KazNU is the largest university in Central Asia and annually implements projects of Sustainable Development Goals.
"KazNU has been cooperating with UNESCO for many years, the university has two UNESCO Chairs. Massive open online courses have become a response to numerous challenges and meet the aspirations for democratization of the educational process. KazNU platform is annually replenished with new subjects, and today there are more than 100 diverse courses in Kazakh, Russian, English languages", - said the Vice-Rector of the university.
It should be noted that the main goal of the launched project "Region - Central Asia: Journalism Education on Migration" is to expand new technologies of education through high quality programs that take into account ethical aspects.
Also at the event spoke Head of the Department of Political Cooperation of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Almasha Arenova, who noted that KazNU conducts effective work on the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Nazgul Shyngysova, Head of the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication, made a presentation detailing the breakthrough projects of the Chair.
The plenary session was also addressed online by: Elira Turdubaeva, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Kyrgyz International University Ala-Too; Zeni Sarabia-Panol, Professor of Middle Tennessee State University (USA); Al-Farabi KazNU Director for International Relations, Director of the Regional Journalism and Communication Center of the National University of Kazakhstan. Leila Delovarova, Director of the UN Regional Resource Center at the Faculty, Wayne Wanta, Professor of the University of Florida (USA), Sasha Borgardt, representative of the national newspaper Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (DAZ), Adilet Mukushev, Program Office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, National Coordinator of the program, and others.
During the event, the launching materials and presentation of the concept of a mobile educational resource on migration issues were presented. At the end there were expert discussions and speeches by foreign researchers.
