KazNU will strengthen cooperation with French universities

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted events within the VIII International Forum of Kazakh-French Higher Education Institutions.

The events were attended by: Consul General of France in Almaty Fabrice Neve, Counselor for Culture and Cooperation Alex Bortolan, Co-Director of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute and Director of the Center for Geoenergy of Al-Farabi  KazNU Agnes Bousset KazNPU named after Abay and Director of the Center of Geoenergetics of Al-Farabi KazNU Agnes Busse, employees and scientists of universities and enterprises of France, teachers and students of Kazakh universities.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev opened the round table "Prospects for the development of international scientific collaboration", congratulating the participants of the forum. Zhanseit Kanseitovich noted that yesterday the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev met with the President of France Emmanuel Macron, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

"The leaders of the two countries discussed ways to strengthen trade and economic, investment and energy cooperation. An agreement was reached on cooperation in international issues in the field of education and science. Therefore, we believe that the work of today's forum is a fruitful continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and science", - said the head of Al-Farabi KazNU.

Today KazNU closely cooperates with 21 universities in France. Of the 189 grants received by the university in the period from 2022 to 2023, 42 were devoted to joint international projects with the participation of French partners.

Jointly with French universities, double degree programs in oil and gas, information technology, biotechnology and alternative energy are being implemented. Kazakhstan-French Scientific and Educational Center "Geoenergetics" was established on the basis of KazNU. The university is preparing several joint projects with the French company Total Energy and is implementing other promising initiatives.

Within the framework of the 7th forum of rectors of universities of Kazakhstan and France, which was held in 2022 in Paris, KazNU signed agreements with leading French universities: Institute of Polytechnic Studies in Paris (Sciences Po Paris), University of Lorraine, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne.   

At the end of the event personal meetings with the heads of delegations were held, the directions of cooperation were discussed.
