On November 3, 2023, Associate Professor of the Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies A.K.Akhmetbekova and Senior Lecturer A.B.Zhiekbaeva within the framework of the "Sustainable Development Goals" (SDGs) of the UN Development Programme in the direction of "Good Health and Well-being" held an event "In a healthy body - a healthy spirit" with the 2nd year students studying on the educational programme "Oriental Studies" at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The main purpose of the event was to make students responsible for their health and avoid bad habits such as smoking and drug addiction.
During the event, a questionnaire on the topic of health was conducted, where students anonymously answered 20 questions. Based on the results of this questionnaire, the students exchanged their opinions.
In the presentation prepared by the students of the Japanese department it was highlighted what toxic substances are contained in cigarettes and how they are harmful to health. Students from the Chinese department gave a presentation on drugs and explained their harm to the human body, mind and thinking. Students from the Arabic department called for a fight against e-cigarettes, proving that they are dangerous to the human body.
In conclusion, the Oriental Studies students concluded that health is a very important factor in determining the future of a human being and pointed out the need to avoid bad habits such as smoking and drugs.
Deputy Head of the Middle East and South Asia Department F.T.Zhumazhanova and Head of the Arabic Department A.Khavan, who took part in the event, noted that the students actively participated in the debate and noted the importance of such events.
