KazNU and Kazakh National Academy of Choreography completed a joint project

The presentation of the encyclopedia "Choreographic Art of Kazakhstan" took place at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography in Astana. The first encyclopedic edition in the history of national choreography is a joint project of Al-Farabi KazNU and the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.

The project was realized within the framework of the grant project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2023.

The author of the idea of creating the encyclopedia and the website of the same name is the editor-in-chief of the publication, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, candidate of philological sciences Asel Musinova.

The project leader is Professor Gulnar Zhumaseitova of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. The research group included representatives of the faculty of the Academy of Choreography.

Encyclopedia "Choreographic Art of Kazakhstan" is the first extensive reference book reflecting the process of development of the national choreographic art of Kazakhstan for almost 90 years - from its inception in 1934 to 2022.

The aim of the project is to create a holistic picture of the national choreography of Kazakhstan: to show its origins, main stages of formation and bright achievements through the biographies of cultural figures, significant performances, the history of the formation of creative teams and competition and festival movement.

For this purpose, for the first time information about outstanding choreographers and performers, composers and librettists, stage designers and researchers of choreographic art, national ballets and author's performances, professional creative teams, ballet competitions and choreographic festivals has been collected and systematized.

The encyclopedia adequately presents the history, achievements, completeness and diversity of national choreography in Kazakhstan and abroad. To this end, the content is presented in Kazakh, English and Russian.
