ZHURGENOV WEEK

On December 4-8, 2023, the Department of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature of Philological Faculty of al-Farabi Kazakh National University held the "Zhurgenov Week" devoted to the 125th anniversary of the outstanding public and statesman,  Temirbek Karauly Zhurgenov. The initiator of this event was the head of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Full Professor,  Alua Berikbaykyzy Temirbolat.

On December 4, 2023, within the framework of  "Zhurgenov Week", an excursion on the topic:  "In the Footsteps of Zhurgenov" was organized for students, master’s degree students  and PhD students of the Faculty of Philology  to the Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, during which they were introduced  to  the history of the Academy,  saw the  exhibits,  the manuscripts,  the books,  and  the documentary materials related to the life and the  work of the  outstanding state and the public figure,  Temirbek Zhurgenov.  The head of the Department for Educational Work,  Nurlan Sagynai,  the Dean of the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Design,  Bauyrzhan Nurbekuly Baidilda showed the  future philologists how to take photos, told about the history of the faculties of the Academy, the art of painting, the skills of an  artist. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor,  Aigul Eginbaykyzy Sadykova showed a corner dedicated to the life and  the work of Temirbek Karauly Zhurgenov, told about the main and most interesting facts of his biography, his role in the development of culture and education in Kazakhstan. During the visit to the Academy, the students attended an acting class.

On December 5, 2023, the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory held “Lectures on Jurgen Studies”. The lectures were delivered by  the Chairman of Temirbek Zhurgenov Public Foundation,  Honorary Citizen of the city of Kyzylorda,  the holder of  “Kurmet” Medal,  Sapen Abdykadyrovich Ansatov;  the Deputy Chairman of “Adilet”,  Historical and Educational Society, the writer,  the publicist, candidate of historical sciences,  Koyshybaev Beibit Orynbekovich, the  member of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, cultural figure, candidate of philological sciences, Jurgen scholar-scientist,  Bauyrzhan Sabitovich Imangaliev, editor-in-chief of “Tansholpan”  literary and artistic popular magazine,  Samatuly Nurlybek. The moderator of the meeting was Doctor of Philology, Professor,  Abdimanuly Omirkhan. During the lectures, the students were shown the film about Temirbek Zhurgenov’s life and work. Koyshybaev Beibit Orynbekovich presented his novel: “Commissar Zhurgenov” to the students who attended the lectures . The 3d and the 4th  year students of the Faculty of Philology showed a small theatrical production based on “Narkom Zhurgenov” play by R. Otarbaev.  At the end of the lectures, the head of the Department of Kazakh literature and literary theory, Doctor of Philology, Professor A.B.  Temirbolat A.B. made a speech.  In her speech she made a focus on the need to study the literary works by Temirbek  Zhurgenov such as   “Translator’s Imagination” poem and   “Meruert” story . She also made an accent on the aspects according to which   the literary and journalistic heritage of Temirbek Karaevich can be studied.

On December 7, 2023, the Department of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature summed up the results of "Temirbek Zhurgenov is an outstanding personality of the Turkic world" republican essay contest on Temirbek   Zhurgenov’s work.  The  students of higher educational institutions and secondary school students of Kazakhstan took part in the contest. 35 works were submitted for the competition. According to the competition results, the winners were awarded the diplomas and  the memorable gifts.

The head of the Department, Full Professor Temirbolat A.B., Associate Professor Sarbasov B.S., Associate Professor Dautova G.R., Senior Lecturers Tleubaev S.B., Karbozov E.K., Shortanbai Sh.A. took an active part in organizing and conducting the events  within the framework of "Zhurgenov Week".
