“Reducing inequality as a condition for eradicating poverty” within the framework of SDG No. 10
On December 14, 2023, Candidate of Law, Acting Associate Professor G.S. Kalieva conducted a scientific seminar with 3rd year students of the Faculty of Law on the topic: “Reducing inequality as a condition for eradicating poverty” within the framework of SDG No. 10. At the scientific seminar, issues related to the problems of social inequality were discussed. The problem of social inequality in the world persists, and in some places it is even increasing - there is unequal access to medical and educational services, discrimination based on income, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, class, ethnicity, religion. Speakers noted that inequality negatively affects poverty eradication, socio-economic development and deprives people of a sense of satisfaction and self-esteem, causing negative attitudes in society, disease and environmental degradation. Sustainable development cannot be a reality if people are denied the opportunity to build a better life.
