Is it necessary to build a nuclear power plant?

I think it is appropriate that the construction of the nuclear power plant will be decided through a national referendum, as stated by Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich in an interview with the newspaper Egemen Qazaqstan. This issue was considered and discussed among undergraduate and graduate students at the UNESCO and Sustainable Development Department of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The disadvantages of nuclear power plants were identified and considered, the pros and cons of "green" energy were noted. This topic is not new for students, since in the process of studying in the specialty, knowledge and practical skills on sustainable development, the basics of environmental safety are formed. Also, within the framework of this topic, many scientific forums, conferences, and discussions are held at the national and university levels.

All this, I think, will contribute to the support of the nuclear power plant construction project at the upcoming national referendum of the people of Kazakhstan, which in the future will become independent of traditional electricity and will give impetus to our economy.
