SDG-3: In KazNU started spartakiade "Health"

In the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a grand opening of the 50th Spartakiade "Health", which was attended by teachers and staff of the university. This year the anniversary of the field day coincided with the 90th anniversary of the university.

Sport has always been and remains an important part of university life. Spartakiade is held annually by the trade union of employees of Al-Farabi KazNU "Parasat" together with the Sports Club. The winners will be awarded with certificates and prizes from the trade union.

The Spartakiade was opened by the chairman of the trade union Talgat Mekyebayev. "The Spartakiade is great because it helps people of intellectual labor to develop physically. Not only faculties participate in the competition, but also the team of the rectorate, which includes employees of departments and services of the university, as well as teams of the Scientific Library of Al-Farabi, the military department and other units", - said Talgat Mekyebayev.

The athletes received a farewell from the vice-rector for social issues Sabit Suatai. He emphasized that the purpose of the Spartakiade is to improve health and promote a healthy lifestyle. "Such events show that KazNU strives to achieve the third UN Sustainable Development Goal - to ensure a healthy lifestyle," - emphasized the Vice-Rector.

The program of competitions includes the following sports: mini-football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, togyzkumalak. 

By the end of the first day the winners in badminton were determined. The team of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology took the third place. The second step of the podium was taken by the Faculty of Law. The first place was won by the team of the Rectorate. 

The competition will continue until January 18.
