KazNU and Xinjiang Medical University will establish a joint center

Al-Farabi KazNU was visited by the delegation of Xinjiang Medical University headed by the director of the first affiliated hospital Mr. Lu Chen. Within the framework of the visit the guests met with the leadership of the university.

The delegation of one of the largest universities of the People's Republic of China was welcomed by a member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Zhamila Aitzhanova. She told the guests about the activities of Al-Farabi KazNU, which successfully operates 16 faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health. The priority direction of the research university is the development of science, in the structure of the university scientists of 8 research institutes, 140 research laboratories, 29 scientific centers, including the Center of Medicinal Plants conduct research.

Within the framework of strategic cooperation of KazNU with universities, institutes and organizations of the People's Republic of China to date, 57 agreements have been signed, academic and research work is being carried out. Since 2022/23 academic year 64 faculty members, 6 doctoral students, 2 master's students, 6 undergraduate students were sent to universities of the PRC. From 2022 to the present time KazNU has attracted 2 professors from the PRC to give lectures. Currently, 969 students from the PRC are studying at KazNU, including 308 under the scholarship program and 661 on a contractual basis.

Thanking colleagues from China for the visit, the Vice-Rector emphasized the interest of KazNU in building productive cooperation with Xinjiang Medical University, which has great prospects. 

About the activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health told the guests its dean, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Raushan Isayeva, emphasizing the openness of the staff, ready to integrate with colleagues in the Celestial Empire and the introduction of any innovations for the benefit of health and quality of life of Kazakhstanis.

Director of the first affiliated hospital Mr. Lu Chen in his response speech made an initiative to create a joint specialized medical center in the field of nephrology. He also expressed his readiness to provide support to equip the necessary equipment to promote the work of low-tonnage production of innovative products based on plant raw materials on the basis of the Research Center of Medicinal Plants.

Zhanar Zhenis, Director of the Research Center for Medicinal Plants, took an active part in the dialogue and supported the idea of establishing a joint medical center on the basis of the university.

The parties also discussed the prospects of organizing exchange of university staff and teachers, professional development courses for faculty, academic meetings and symposiums and other issues.
